Spalted Maple Bird Bowl
Walnut Kuksa
This potbelly style walnut kuksa could be used as a drinking cup, or a soup bowl. The handle is a bird totem style carving that is not only nice to look at, but it is also very comfortable in the hand as well.
Maple Measuring Cup Set
This set was custom ordered with a hanging, long handle ladle to match the set. this photo is of the set hanging in my customer's home.
Custom Kuksa (Back)
This Kuksa, (drinking cup) was hand crafted from cherry wood. The handle is far more intricate than my retail pieces, it reminds me of an armored claw or beak. The sides of it are more styled as well, the raised lines actually meet at a raised Hilltop Spoonworks logo on the front of the cup. there are more photos of it on my Instagram and Facebook pages.

Balancing Spoons
These were a custom order. They are designed to "balance" on the side of your pot while you cook. They actually rest there quite comfortably, just be sure to lift them straight up and not hook the pot because the handle is fairly thin at the balance point.
Double Four Piece Birdseye Maple Cooking Set
These were actually ordered to be given as two separate gifts of two four piece sets
Soup Spoons
These were fun. I made the bowl of them extra deep and large. It actually reaches about a quarter inch into the transition, under the top of the handle. These are designed to sip from, not like a standard eating spoon.
Cherry Eating Spoons
This is a four piece eating spoon set made from cherry wood.
Four Piece Eating Spoon Set
This set was a special request by a close friend of mine. He had a 100 plus year old apple tree on his property that had to be cut down. He wanted to have a set of spoons made out of it, so I got to work on these. He now will always have four small pieces of that tree in his home.
Maple Cooking Spoons
These were made to replace some store bought pieces that my customer had worn down to nubs. Because of this, I decided to make them a bit thicker than my normal ones, so they will stand up to the abuse he puts on them.
Curly Maple Cooking Spoon
Mahogany Two Piece Set
Another thick handle, heavy duty set. This mahogany wood was super dense, with dark streaks throughout the length of them.

Walnut Kuksas
A single finger hole cup and a double finger hole cup.
Walnut Measuring Cup Set With Hanger
Five piece walnut measuring set with a walnut hanger/shelf
Dragon Spoon
This piece was a challenge brought to me by a very accomplished sculptor from my local area. He wanted me to carve a dragon out of walnut, but keep a spoon somewhere on the piece to keep with my normal work style. This was the outcome. I had so much fun with it, that I have started doing sculptural pieces for customers since then with somewhat regularity.
Vertically Hanging Curved Handle Measuring Cup Set
This was the finished product after many days of thinking of different ways to hang the cups
Birdseye Maple Cooking Set

Mahogany Charcuterie Board
This Mahogany board has three bowls carved into it for serving anything from berries to olives wit.h your meats and cheeses.
Large Brew Paddle
A good friend of mine is a homebrew aficionado, who was considering stepping up his set up to make larger batches. The one thing he knew he would need was a longer, larger brew paddle for stirring and mixing his mash. I carved this cherry paddle a lot like an actual canoe paddle, only with two, two inch holes on the working end for increased mixing ability. I woodburned a few designs on the handle and head to personalize it for him as well.

Custom Muzzle Loader Stock
I carved this entire stock from a single plank of old growth yellow birch. It was the first time I had ever attempted to carve anything with tight tolerances that could hurt the user if not carved correctly. My customer gave me full creative say in this, so I went crazy on it. The fore grip has flame style carvings, and the butt end has curved stripes from the top to the bottom. I’ll add more photos below.

Four Salad Serving Sets
Two maple and two walnut salad serving sets pictured together before being put up for sale.
Figured Maple Baby Spoons
Two beautifully figured baby spoons in rock maple
Deep Soup Spoon Set
his was a new design for me. I wasn't sure about the hard angles, or the deep bowl, but this has turned into one of my most requested styles for an eating spoon.
Maple Bird Bowl
I have seen these done in the past, so I figured I would give it a shot, with my own twist. I made it large enough to be a soup bowl, yet small enough to drink from. I carved a trough through the tail, so you could drink from it, or finish off your soup liquids without slurping your spoon.
Walnut Soup Ladles
Three larger than normal ladles, perfect for serving soups.
Flame Birch Cooking Spoon
Beautifully figured flame birch cooking spoon. This was from the first batch I had ever worked with, as soon as it came out of the oil, I knew I had to get more. Now it is one of my favorite woods to work with.
Short ladle
Flame birch small pot ladle. great for soups or stews.
Winged Sculpture
This walnut wing was carved for the boss of my tattoo artist friend who’s last name is Wing. he wanted a “badass” looking sculpture that would be displayed in his studio for all to see. I went with walnut because to me, it represents not only elegance, but also strength, much like the artwork that gets made there. It is carved 360 degrees around, so from any angle, you can see different details from the wing tips to the body of the “bird”. Because they also do piercings there, I went with a stylized tribal shape for the body that has been used for weighed earrings to stretch ear lobes. Together, the tribal body and the wings work seamlessly to convey exactly what we both wanted for the piece. I wish I took some better photos before delivering.
Long Handle Ladle
This ladle is identical to the short handle one except for the extended handle, which is about 4 inches longer.
Maple Salad Set
sapwood and heartwood transition was nearly perfectly matched on this maple salad serving set
Birch Vertical Hanging Measuring Cup Set
In process shot of a vertical hanging set
Maple Salad Serving Sets
This photo shows just how varied maple can be. they were all made from the same tree, just different sections. Some were dark heartwood, some were light sapwood, and some were beautifully caught right in the transition of the two.
Birch Vertical Hanging Measuring Cup Set
This five piece set is made for those who have more vertical wall space than horizontal. The cups hang on metal hooks with small stainless steel loops screwed into the backs of the handles.
Maple Spatulas
This shows the variety of shapes that can be achieved through custom orders.
Hooked Long Handle Ladles
These ladles were all ordered with hanging hooks on the backs to hang with measuring cup sets.
Zebrawood Bread Board
This board is 11 inches by 26 inches and designed to serve and cut specialty breads on.
Hickory Charcuterie Board
Two bowl Charcuterie board for serving dry meats and cheeses, along with nuts, berries or olives.
Fair Season
For most of the year, this is how I produce spoons in preparation of fair season. I try to get 100-200 a week made, all while filling custom orders.
Maple Spaghetti Spoon
These three pieces are all sugar maple, I torched the bowl on one of them to add a bit of contrast.
Curved Handle Measuring Cups
This cherry set of measuring cups hangs vertically. My client wanted his and his wife's initials burned onto the bottom of the backboard, I don't normally offer it, but I'm very happy with the outcome.
Flame Birch Kuksa
This spalted birch, two finger hole kuksa was one of my favorites from this past winter.
Elephant Kuksa
This was the first time I attempted to make a kuksa morphed with an animal. This particular piece is yellow birch.
Rhino Sculpture
This birch rhinoceros was a gift for my tattoo artist and friend who goes by the name Rhino. (His name is Ryan, so it makes sense) I carved this as a gift to him as a tip of sorts, because I didn’t have much extra cash on hand to tip him for his amazing work. I stylized it to emphasize the shoulders and horns, and give it a graceful elegance while still maintaining an aggressive stance.
Extra Large Viking Style Ladle
This was a custom ordered maple piece with a two foot long handle, a slightly larger head, and a hook on the back of the handle for hanging on a wall or hook.
